  • A certified copy of the priority document needs to be filed within 16 months from the earliest priority date (with details needed at filing).

  • Priority certificate can be omitted if the basic application was filed in the US, EP or KR, or a priority certificate has already been lodged with the USPTO or EPO. A PCT/SB/39 document must be filed with the USPTO for the US data to be usable.

  • The Japanese Patent Office accepts either Japanese language applications or English language applications followed by a Japanese translation within 14 months from the earliest priority date.
